The 19 padel shots in the game: from bandeja to rulo
Bandeja, víbora, gancho, rulo, contrapared… What every padel shot is and how to use it from the tactics board in Padel Manager 27.
Real padel, shot by shot
In Padel Manager 27 every point is played with 19 different shots, with the ball coming off the glass and the fence just like on a real court. Knowing them helps you understand why you win or lose points, and helps you give better orders from the tactics board.
Shots from the back of the court
| Shot | What it is |
|---|---|
| Flat drive | The straight, no-spin shot to move the ball around safely |
| Topspin | With forward spin: the ball dips sooner and kicks up higher |
| Slice | With backspin: it stays low and forces the rival to bend down |
| Lob | The high ball over the rivals to push them off the net |
| Chiquita | A soft, low ball at the feet of the player at the net |
| Drop shot | A dead ball that dies just over the net |
Shots off the glass
What makes padel unique: playing with the walls.
| Shot | What it is |
|---|---|
| Off the wall | Letting the ball bounce off the glass and then playing it back |
| Back-wall contrapared | Hitting the ball into your own back glass so it carries over the net |
| Side-wall contrapared | The same, using the side glass |
Shots at the net
| Shot | What it is |
|---|---|
| Volley | Hitting the ball before it bounces |
| Half volley | Hitting the ball right after the bounce, close to your feet |
Overhead shots
| Shot | What it is |
|---|---|
| Bandeja | The safe overhead: it keeps you at the net when a lob comes over |
| Víbora | A more aggressive bandeja, with sidespin and a low bounce |
| Flat smash | The powerful smash to finish the point |
| Topspin smash | A smash with spin that bounces high and can fly out of the court |
| Quick smash | A snap smash with almost no wind-up, to catch the rival off guard |
| Gancho | A side-on overhead to finish the point without leaving the net |
| Rulo to the fence | A heavily spun smash aimed at the side fence |
| Bajada | An overhead played after the ball rebounds off the glass |
How to call shots from the tactics board
On each player's board you choose what to attack each rival with: lob, chiquita, volley, bandeja, víbora, smash, bajada, drop shot or groundstroke. Combine it with where (down the line, cross-court, to the fence, at the feet, down the middle, at the body) and which side (to their backhand or to their forehand).
A few examples that work:
- Against big smashers: chiquita at the feet. If they can't lift the ball, they can't smash it.
- Against a pair glued to the net: a lob down the middle, so they hesitate over who takes it.
- If your pair rules the air: come forward more and go for the víbora or the bandeja to hold the net.
We explain it all in detail in the live bench guide.
Shots and attributes
Every player has 31 attributes, and several of them are tied to shots: bandeja, víbora, smash or aerial technique. A player with a great bandeja will hold the net against lobs; one with a good víbora will hand you outright winners. Check their profile before deciding how they play.
